Overview

Assess the businesses applying to use payment services and review their risk as the relationship develops. This role focuses on the early decisions that help prevent financial crime while allowing legitimate merchants to begin operating. It requires close attention to evidence and independent judgment when a case is incomplete or complex. Reviews cover ecommerce businesses, foundations and government bodies.

Requirements

  • Candidates need a background in legal studies or a related academic field, fluent English and a strong analytical approach.
  • Dutch is preferred.
  • The work calls for careful decisions with limited information, attention to detail and clear customer communication.
  • Experience: no minimum number of years is specified.

Responsibilities

  • Review organizations during onboarding, periodic checks and changes that trigger reassessment.
  • Identify the people behind a business, verify relevant identities and work through ownership structures.
  • Analyze financial and other information to understand the merchant's activities, profile and location, then determine whether the available evidence supports the proposed relationship.
  • Manage assigned review queues and contact customers by phone when questions need resolving.
  • Apply regulatory requirements to each case and make timely decisions without creating unnecessary obstacles.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues while taking responsibility for the accuracy and progress of your own assessments.

Conditions

  • This is a full-time hybrid position in Maastricht.
