Overview
Lead the analytical work that explains where payment losses originate and how proposed controls will affect both losses and approvals. This role focuses on portfolio performance, merchant-level reporting and recovery strategy, giving risk, finance and commercial teams a shared basis for decisions.
Requirements
- The experience profile includes at least eight years in payments, banking or lending risk analytics and three years leading analysts.
- Strong investigation judgment, segmentation, cohort analysis and loss forecasting are required, supported by knowledge of ACH or card loss economics.
Responsibilities
- Break loss patterns down by payment rail, return category, merchant segment and guarantee tier.
- Investigate groups of cases with risk operations, distinguish their underlying causes, and quantify the exposure.
- Build monthly reporting and forward-looking estimates that show how the portfolio is performing against plan and why the outlook has changed.
- Before a rule, threshold or unusual commercial term is introduced, estimate its likely effect on losses and customer acceptance.
- After implementation, compare outcomes with those expectations.
- Use the same discipline to recommend which returns should be contested and where recoveries are economically worthwhile.
- Present evidence and assumptions clearly to risk committees and finance stakeholders.
Conditions
- The role is hybrid in San Francisco or New York, with office attendance Tuesday through Thursday.
