Overview
Build and run a compliance function for the rules governing a portfolio of European payment methods. The position focuses on scheme obligations and their practical effect on products and operations, requiring both a detailed understanding of payment rules and the ability to create a dependable process around them.
Requirements
- The role initially carries considerable individual responsibility, with possible team development as the function grows.
- Candidates need strong payments knowledge, experience interpreting scheme rules and evidence of creating compliance processes.
- Stakeholder management and analytical judgment are central.
Responsibilities
- Establish how new and amended scheme requirements are received, interpreted, assigned and monitored.
- Translate those changes into actionable guidance for product, legal, risk, operations and commercial teams.
- Maintain documentation and reporting that show what has changed, who is responsible and whether the necessary action has been completed.
- Act as the internal specialist on scheme rules and develop constructive relationships with external scheme representatives.
- Identify potential compliance exposures early, escalate material issues, and challenge requirements where there is a reasoned commercial or operational case.
- Training and clear communication are important because the function must help other teams apply the rules correctly.
Conditions
- The role has a hybrid workplace in London, with an expectation of three office days each week.
